Musical Theater Summer Intensive: July 9 - 27, 2018

In keeping with Prospect’s commitment to support the next generation of musical theater artists, this program is an opportunity for students ages 12-17 to build their performance skills by working with a professional director and music director to present a new musical revue, premiering original songs and monologues written expressly for young people by some of NYC’s most exciting emerging composers and lyricists. The intensive offers a variety of workshops and master classes with Broadway performers, to deepen general knowledge of theater practice, strengthen vocal and acting technique, and enhance overall confidence. Past master class and workshop instructors include Hunter Bell, Jenn Gambatese, Cady Huffman, Jose Llana, Kenita Miller, Evan Pappas, Rashidra Scott, and others.

Participants work with Prospect's professional artists bring to life a brand-new musical. With Prospect staff and the teaching artists, program participants will workshop and premiere original songs while building their technical skills as actors, singers, and dancers. This program is intended for students with some previous musical theater experience who are excited to learn in a fast-paced environment, take artistic risks, and collaborate in an ensemble.

The program runs Mon - Fri, 10a - 5:30p, from July 9 - 27, 2018 and will be held at professional studio facilities in Manhattan. The culminating performance will take place on Friday, July 27 afternoon at the beautiful TimesCenter (242 West 41st Street) in midtown Manhattan, steps from Times Square.

A video audition of 3-5 minutes is required, and may be submitted via private Youtube or Vimeo link. Admission is on a rolling basis until the program reaches capacity. The video should include two short musical selections (1-2 min. each, ideally with musical accompaniment) and a brief personal introduction from the student (1 min or less).

Tuition for the three week program is $1800. Early bird discounts are available:

Save $600 with enrollment by Feb. 1. ($1200 tuition total, $600 deposit.)

Save $400 with enrollment by Mar. 1. ($1400 tuition total, $700 deposit.)

Save $200 with enrollment by April 30. ($1600 tuition total, $800 deposit.)

To receive the discounted tuition rate, a deposit of 50% must be received by the deadline.
Balance of tuition is due by June 1, 2018.
