Camp LineupProspect Theater Company offers a variety of special opportunities for younger audiences and young performers to become involved with our company’s work.

Musical Theater Summer Intensive:

In keeping with Prospect’s commitment to support the next generation of musical theater artists, this program is an opportunity for students ages 12-17 to build their performance skills by working with a professional director and music director to present a new musical revue, premiering original songs and monologues written expressly for young people by some of NYC’s most exciting emerging composers and lyricists.  In addition, the intensive offers a variety of workshops and coaching sessions, as well as master classes with Broadway performers, to deepen general knowledge of theatre practice, strengthen vocal and acting technique, and enhance overall confidence.

This 3-week program typically occurs three weeks in July.  Rolling admission is by audition; tuition for the 2014 program is $1000, with discounts for enrollment by April 1 and limited need-based scholarship funds available.  Auditions typically begin in February; 2014 program dates are expected to be July 7 – 26.   For further information on how to audition for the program, please email Summer@ProspectTheater.org or Info@ProspectTheater.org.

Student Matinee Program:

In Fall 2008 Prospect launched a student matinee program, specifically targeting middle- and high-school-aged students in the New York metropolitan area.  This initiative seeks to engage students in the experience of live theater: we create teacher curriculum packets to prep the students for the performance, provide free or steeply discounted tickets to special weekday matinees, and host pre-show workshops and post-show talkbacks for students to meet artists involved with the show.

Because our shows are performed in theaters of 99 seats or less, we are able to provide a personalized, up-close experience for students, enhanced not only by the educational materials we provide, but also through post-show talkback sessions with the team of artists who created the production.  Prospect’s small size allows our artists the opportunity to make real connections with students who attend.  If you are interested in receiving information on how your school can become a part of Prospect’s Student Matinee program, please email Cara@ProspectTheater.org.
